If you unlock the doors with the app and don't open a door within a minute they will automatically relock, so Subaru has the technology but has chosen not to implement it for normal walk away operations. If enough of us keep asking for it, hopefully we'll see ... No. It does not lock on itself. I know it's a bummer , especially when this car is full of tech. Folks have done some hacks to enable it. Manually unlock the drivers door. Detach fob from valet key and put the fob in the center console. Close the drivers door and lock it from the outside with the valet key.
