I just pulled the cover to have a look at the battery in my 2011 LTZ AWD, purchased used 3 months ago. Happy to see what looks like a brand new battery and zero indication of corrosion at the terminals. I guess the interior location translates to the battery staying clean. The battery is an ACDelco 8637. Additional labeling shows 48H7YR.this is normal. Noticed the dash voltmeter showing about 15 volts. Checked at the posts under the hood, 15.3v. Usually reads high, sometimes it will drop to 14v. Replaced alternator, Optima reman. Still have the exact same problem. I find it highly unlikely both alternators had the exact same issue. I was told that the computer controlls the alternator output and will shut it off when not needed. It shut off the current to the armature which stops the load on the alternator and thus the guage show a lower reading.
