Thats how they work, sometimes they join sometimes they dont. It doesnt take too long though, just keep trying. Recruiting southern hive workers and southern hive princes is possible. It is purely RNG to recruit them using the recruiting prisoner. The southern hive recruitment dialogue is quite old and identical to western hive recruitment.This save has the mod "Hiver Stat Increase" enabled, but that one Prince has the problem with and without the mod. I tested with another Hive Prince, and that one was immune to acid pools and acid rain, so it seems that only the one in the screenshot is affected.
